About the Role

As a Principal ANC Engineer, you will be responsible for the conversion of theoretical signal processing concepts into prototypes in Matlab and into algorithms implemented on embedded processors. You will be responsible for understanding physical DSP hardware concepts such as memory management and real-time constraints and for Active Noise Cancellation (ANC) DSP software development & validation including requirements analysis and supporting internal and external customers (e.g. Noise Cancelling System Engineers or Customer NVH teams).

What You Will Do

  • Develop, modify and integrate active noise cancellation (ANC) DSP algorithms in the automotive environment
  • Evaluate prototype DSP algorithms and adaptive control systems in Matlab
  • Optimize individual algorithms and total system performance
  • Work closely with other engineering groups to ensure total tuned system performance
  • Develop test plans for validation of ANC feature performance
  • Develop / Support proof-of-concept vehicle technology demonstrations
  • Support root-cause analysis of technology issues
  • Define system requirements and communicate to software team for the development of embedded production software solutions

What You Need

  • Master s degree in acoustics, mechanical or electrical engineering, computer science, or equivalent
  • Experience prototyping algorithms for advanced technology development
  • Knowledge of audio systems and acoustic principles
  • Good knowledge of high level programming, such as Matlab/Simulink or Python
  • Familiarity with requirement for embedded software solutions
  • Experience with tuning complex systems
  • Capable project and time management skills
  • Exemplary verbal and written communication skills

What is Nice to Have

  • Knowledge of noise cancellation, signal processing, acoustical engineering and/or psycho-acoustics
  • PhD in acoustics, mechanical or electrical engineering, computer science, or equivalent
  • Experience developing consumer, automotive, or military products
  • Experience with VST plugins and hosts
  • Experience in automotive industry, especially regarding communication protocols (e.g., CAN, A2B)
  • Experience with measurement and analysis tools such as ArtemiS or Testlab
  • Experience in the use of microphones and accelerometers for acoustic and vibration measurements

Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
