Summary:
Plan, coordinate, and direct quality assurance programs designed to ensure quality production of products consistent with established standards and customer requirements by performing the following duties personally or through subordinate supervisors/team members.
Responsibilities:
-Provide process and technical leadership over the functions of customer line and warranty claim analysis activities.
-Lead and facilitate team problem solving activities within and across department functions.
-Maintain key customer relationships and acts as point of contact with key customer contacts as required.
-Ensure teams are meeting internal and external requirements via the development/implementation & monitoring of appropriate quality processes and related metrics.
-Direct technical and administrative workers engaged in quality assurance activities.
-Review and correlate quality data across all phases of product life cycle (supplier, mfg, customer, field, etc.).
-Lead and coordinate safe launch plans to ensure customer quality expectations and support is achieved.
-Coordinate and facilitate activities within program management structure and cross functionally within organization.
-Formulate and maintain quality assurance objectives complementary to corporate policies and goals.
-Keep management team abreast of significant issues or developments identified during quality assurance activities and actions being taken to improve the situation. Prepare and present technical and program information to the management team.
-Perform quality-engineering reviews of design/process documentation for compliance with stated requirements, including supplier quality manuals and company quality records (as required).
-Review data obtained during all quality assurance activities to confirm consistency with company policies and procedures.
-Develop new approaches to solve problems identified during quality assurance activities.
-Maintain a working knowledge of government and industry quality assurance codes and standards.
-Play an active role on quality management teams within the organization.
-Design and implement quality assurance training programs to key personnel in conjunction with managers.
-Investigate and adjust customer complaints regarding quality.
-Assure effective communications with remote manufacturing sites to prevent and/or resolve quality problems and customer complaints.
Qualifications:

-Four-year college degree or equivalent in a technical field such as Quality or Engineering.
-Minimum of 5 years QA management experience in an automotive related industry.
-Strong project management and people skills.
-Experience successfully handling customer relations and managing budgets. Comprehensive knowledge and experience with APQP, PPAP, MSA, FMEA, Control Plans and other automotive industry quality requirements. Proficiency in analytical problem solving using 5 Why's, Cause/Effect Diagrams, 8D, 5 Phase, etc.
-Experience with automotive and electronic control systems desirable.
-Experience in maintaining a quality system compliant with QS-9000 or TS 16949. Training/experience in internal auditing helpful.
-Travel will be required to national and international locations.
Language Ability:
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret the most complex documents. Ability to respond effectively to the most sensitive inquiries or complaints. Ability to write speeches and articles using original or innovative techniques or style. Ability to make effective and persuasive speeches and presentations on controversial or complex topics to top management.
Math Ability:
Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations. SPC and Six Sigma desirable.
Reasoning Ability:
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
Computer Skills:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must have knowledge and proficiency in Word Processing software, Spreadsheet software and databases.
Management
Responsibilities:
Manages teams responsible for customer line support and warranty analysis activities for various OEM customers. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
